End of year update from our founder, Lianne
"Well as this year comes to an end it’s time to reflect on the year we’ve had. If we thought last year was hard nothing could have prepared us for 2023!!
The situation became so dire a few months ago I contemplated closing our doors and walking away. The stress of running WWP with little to no funds, a shortage of help and the constant stream of dogs needing our help very nearly broke us. That along with the loss of our beloved exempt ‘pit bull’ Dotty which really hit us hard and I really wasn’t sure if I could carry on.
But carry on we did, rescue is a way of life, WWP is my whole life and I may be a lot of things but I’m not a quitter!!
So we rallied the troops and worked harder than we had ever done before and we slowly started to see results. With the help of Catherine giving our website and social media an overhaul this helped with our rehoming and the pressure started to ease! We are ending the year with a lot less dogs than we started with!
We have a long way to go but we are definitely heading in the right direction!
Hopefully 2024 will bring us some good luck, we aim to raise some much needed funds to improve the kennels which are in dire need of some TLC. We have many projects that we’d like to complete we just need the funds and manpower to make this happen. Watch this space, if you think you'd like to help us out in this area!
None of our work would be possible without the wonderful dedicated team behind WWP.
There are far too many to thank individually!
So here goes….I’d like to thank the hardworking small team at our kennels that care for our many dogs and make their stay with us as pleasurable as possible while they wait to find new homes!
To our volunteers whether it be dog walkers, transporters, home checkers, our lovely laundry ladies, our fundraising team, charity shop workers and rehoming team all which volunteer their time to help our dogs.
Our fab fosters, without you we really would be lost! Not forgetting everyone that donates to our never ending appeals making running WWP possible!!!
Lastly our fantastic vets who stop at nothing to give our dogs the best care and not forgetting having to put up with me and Kev!!
So again thank you from the bottom of my heart to you all
Well this year has pushed us to the brink but we survived!! We also successfully saved many many lives….
The figures for 2023 make everything worthwhile and speak for themselves…
Strays in - 117
Strays claimed - 15
Owner surrenders - 55
Rehomed - 185
This makes me extremely proud to be part of team WWP, what we lack in numbers we more than make up for in determination!!
So here’s to a successful year ahead where we will strive to do even better and save more lost souls.
Thank you to everyone who believes in us and continues to support us
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE"
